2016 Summer Band Camp:
Before the school year begins, there are three weeks of Band Camp to help prepare the students for the marching band season. Here are the details:
Week 1: Monday, August 1 - Friday, August 5. The students will be marching in the Ventura County Fair Parade on Saturday, August 6.
Week 2 & 3: Monday, August 15 - Friday, August 26 (not currently scheduled on Saturday or Sunday).
Location: Rio Mesa High School (in the Band Room)
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (lunch break from 11:00 - 12:00)
Attire: Shorts, t-shirt and athletic shoes (no flip flops or sandals)
Bring: Sunscreen, hat/sunglasses, lunch, water and instrument (if you own your own).
During the first week of Band Camp, students will be preparing to march in the Ventura County Fair Parade on Saturday. As thanks from the Ventura County Fair the students are admitted free after the parade on Saturday. More details will be given to the students during Week 1 of Band Camp.
After School Band Practice:
Preparing to be competitive for a field show requires a lot of practice outside the classroom. In addition to summer band camp, the students will be meeting this fall after school on the following days (starting September 6).
Tuesday nights: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Thursdays after school: 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Incoming Fall 2016 Freshmen and new students: Marching Band and color guard (tall flags) count for P.E.! Be sure to register for Marching Band when you register. Also consider our year-long courses: Jazz Band and Mariachi. Concert Band is also offered as a 2nd semester choice. Any questions or need to borrow an instrument?
